My idea of virtual photography is a memory, an homage and an invite to curiosity all at once. It stems from combining two creative sources I strongly believe in – the power of imagination and the instinct for storytelling – and finds its best representation in photostories.
Each photostory consists of a series of 30 personal shots through which I recount adventures, worlds, and characters from some of the most fascinating video games I have played in recent years. Inevitably, memorable and crucial scenes from each title are going to be shown or implied somehow, but in order to reduce as much as possible the risk of spoilers, the games I choose to photograph are at the very least one year old.
The images lack any accompanying title or descriptive text. Only a number is used to provide a sense of chronological order to the entire sequence of photos. The rest is intentionally left to the imagination of the observer, whether they are a gamer or not.
La mia idea di fotografia virtuale è insieme ricordo, omaggio e invito alla curiosità. Nasce dalla combinazione di due fonti creative in cui credo molto - il potere dell'immagine e l'istinto di narrare - e si concretizza in vere e proprie fotostorie.
Ogni fotostoria consiste in una serie di 30 personalissimi scatti con cui racconto avventure, mondi e personaggi di alcuni dei videogiochi che ho giocato negli ultimi anni. Inevitabilmente compariranno in qualche forma anche momenti memorabili e cruciali di ogni titolo ma, per cercare di contenere il più possibile il rischio di spoiler, i giochi che scelgo di fotografare esistono da almeno un anno.
Le immagini sono prive di titoli e testi di accompagnamento, l'unico riferimento offerto è un numero per scandire temporalmente l'intera sequenza di foto. Il resto è lasciato volutamente all'immaginazione di chi osserva, videogiocatore o meno che sia.
